ULC is the only firm in Pakistan to have a Foreign Lawyers Program. ULC encourages especially young foreign lawyers around the world to spend 3 to 6 months with ULC in Pakistan. Foreign law firms can also send young lawyers from their firm to ULC on a secondment. With globalization of legal practice and economic liberalization in Pakistan, foreign lawyers have been involved in various transactions in Pakistan. ULC gives opportunities to lawyers to enhance their understanding of the legal scenario of Pakistan so that when such lawyers go back to their country, they at least have a first hand knowledge of Pakistan and its legal system which put them in an advantageous position when working for any law firm involved with projects in Pakistan.

Foreign Law Students

ULC encourages law students whether Pakistani or from another country to spend some time in law firms. Foreign law students wishing to spend 1 or 2 month during summer are also welcome to apply.

Foreign In-House Counsel Program

With the advent of economic liberalization in Pakistan, big and small foreign companies are investing in Pakistan. ULC has been involved in advising many such companies. ULC has observed that the foreign counsels, involved in the projects are unable to understand the legal system and the law of Pakistan as they are sometimes very different from their own country. However, since these foreign companies investing in Pakistan obviously have long term plans, it is always useful to have someone in the company who understands the Pakistani system better. Keeping this in mind, ULC offers young in-house counsels of Companies having large or substantial presence in Pakistan for secondment in the firm for a period between 3 to 6 months.
